Capt Max saves the day! I spent at least a half year looking for someone with the skills to take on my rescue operation project after moving back to NYC with just the drawers from my antique wooden flat file. The original frame was left behind as we could not get it out the door on moving day, and probably for the better as it’s 5ft x 2.5ft footprint would have taken up half the my new abode’s studio/guestroom. Max magically refashioned this massive piece into a vertical format by taking the 2 full length drawers, dividing them in two to match their 4 smaller brethren, and stacking them to yield 8 highly usable drawers in a newly made framework. I was able to not lose any room space and actually gain some by placing my newly envisioned art storage cabinet in an unused closet with the doors off! He is an affable guy, good as his word, and extremely competent. Since the piece is still pretty big (in a different way) he made sure to make it something one can simply knockdown in case of another move and which made delivery a breeze. The price was fair and the workmanship topnotch.

Captain Max Patterson is a GEM! Captain Max just completed a closet renovation in my studio apartment. Captain Max had great ideas and suggestions for the 12 foot, three individual section closet! Captain Max custom built and installed shelves for the office section of the closet, assembled the dresser and anchored it the wall in the second closet and installed the clothing rods in the third closet. Captain Max removed the old shelving and baseboard moulding, repaired and painted, and added new moulding and shelving. I now have a beautiful, functional, updated and amazing wall closet!
I am already planning my next project for Captain Max! Captain Max is reliable, reasonable, personable and gets the job completed as scheduled! I HIGHLY recommend Captain Max!

Max is an extremely talented carpenter whose work has made my small apartment’s storage solution grow exponentially. He listens to what you envision provides feedback and works with you to get you the solution you need and will love. He built a large linen closet which meshes well with my furnishings, He also built a desk top nook for my home office that houses all of my supplies. He is fast, friendly and reasonably priced. You will be very happy if you use the captain!!

Max is a conscientious, patient, hard working, and talented wood worker. I had the pleasure of working with him on a number of personal woodworking projects and he took the time to teach me how to use the tools, and how to obtain precision results that looked great. We were skeptical our chair could be repaired and started looking for a replacement. On a whim, I sent Captain Max a picture of the break and he immediately replied with confidence he could repair the chair. Given the nature of the break, I doubted him but figured it couldn't get any worse! After inspecting the chair and providing a quote, we agreed on a price and set up a time to repair the chair. He did the work in our apartment, leaving no mess or trace of his presence. We let the glue dry overnight. Afterwards he removed any excess glue and did his best to patch up any cracks or remaining blemishes. If you inspect the chair within a few inches, you can make out signs of where the break was. However, outside of this distance, you will have no idea where the break was. We have two of these chairs and our teenage daughter could not determine which was the repaired one. I cannot provide enough praise for Captain Max and his skills. Utterly amazing! To boot, he's a damn nice guy as well. Do not hesitate to trust him with your repair, I was shocked by the magic he worked!

He understood exactly what I wanted and produced and installed the finished product within weeks (it was a small bathroom vanity project but quick nonetheless). Excellent craftsmanship and a lovely person too. Will use again for other mill-work projects.

On installation day he and his employee were friendly, quick, efficient and professional. We now have double the living space in our bedroom which has been revolutionary! We needed to get the attic space and bathroom wall refinished due to water damage. He did a great job and was very meticulous and thorough. He assisted with all stages of planning and was very patient with us as we figured out exactly what we wanted. He made great recommendations for hardware and materials. He graciously offered to come back after installation to put in a final shelf after my husband had a chance to use the desk and determine the best placement. I found Max's phone number online while looking for a professional to help me with a custom project. I needed Max to help me design a puzzle out of pine wood. When I found Max's number online, I called him and he encouraged me to come visit his shop. When I stopped in, he helped me design the puzzle and fulfilled my request THAT DAY so that I did not have to come back uptown later in the week. I was extreme pleased with his quick turnaround time and attention to detail. Max is a very personable and was a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended!
